About

Hello, I’m Robin —an artist, engineer, and creator. With a PhD in Quantum Computing and over a decade of experience designing and building products, I’ve spent my career at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and hands-on creativity. From building practical gadgets like smart cat flaps to crafting prop replicas for worlds like Fallout 76 and Rick & Morty, my work spans an array of fascinating projects. Alongside this, I continue to work in the quantum computing industry, where my passion for precision and innovation is always evolving.

While my professional background is deeply rooted in advanced physics and engineering, I’ve always been driven by a love for making—whether it’s brewing beer, cooking, electronic projects, or crafting intricate wood carvings on my CNC machine. This passion naturally led me to the world of nixie clocks, where I found a perfect blend of artistry and technology. Designing these clocks allows me to combine beautiful, mathematical wood carvings with elegant electronics, turning them into functional yet aesthetic objects.

Over the years, I’ve pursued a wide range of creative projects, from carved teak wall panels to VFD tube clocks, guitar tuners, and even specialised pasta moulds. Each project reflects my dedication to merging physics, mathematics, and engineering with a deep appreciation for craftsmanship. I’m always seeking out the new and the original, pushing myself to build unique pieces like my Nixie bulb matrix or my signature wave carvings.

Inspiration comes to me constantly, and while many ideas don’t stick, the ones that do become my obsession. I’ll refine a concept in my mind, turning it over and over until it’s fully formed, long before I pick up a tool or open a design program. This deep, internal process allows me to bring ideas to life with precision, care, and originality.

Thank you for visiting and exploring my work. If you’d like to learn more about my projects or discuss potential collaborations or commissions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
